My name is Macy and I am so excited to be PVA President this year! I am a senior from North St. Paul, Minnesota. Currently, I am working at WisCARES as a veterinary assistant, in an oncology lab at the vet school, and in the large animal hospital. At school I have a puppy named Chainey and an old man cat named Mr. Butter! I have grown up around animals and have three at home named Debo, Jango, and Dolly Pawton. In my free time, I love to read and take my puppy to the dog park! Overall, I am looking forward to this year and getting to know more PVAers! Major: Genetics and Genomics Year: Junior Vet Interests: Mixed animal, exotics, small animal, aquatic medicine Bio: I am a current junior majoring in Genetics with certificates in Business Management and Fashion Design. I am a vet assistant at City Dog Vet on the east side and am doing conservation genetics research in the Pelegri lab. I don’t have any pets, but my middle name (Singh) means lion, so that’s my favorite animal. During the year, I look forward to meeting everyone and attending the events! I've been apart of PVA for 3 years now, but this is my first on the exec board and I'm super excited! I'm originally from Watertown, WI. When I'm not working on school, I'm usually at work, which for me is Fitchburg Veterinary Hospital. I'm so glad to have found this clinic because we're one of the few around Madison that sees exotics! I'm still working my way up to snake handling though, they're not my favorite. I was able to become Fear Free Certified this past summer as well. On campus, I'm also the Alumni Relations Chair for the CALS Ambassadors and the South Madison Director for Slow Food UW. I have 2 German Shepherds, 2 cats, 2 rabbits, and a chinchilla. I love to walk around the Lakeshore trails in my free time, especially if my dogs are able to visit. I am from Bristol, Wisconsin, which is west of Kenosha. I have a golden retriever named Riley and a tabby named Luna! I’m majoring in Zoology and last summer I interned at a vet clinic back home where I learned things like how to assist in surgery. In my free time, I love to go for walks and read. Major: Zoology and Conservation Biology Year: Senior Vet Interests: Small animal, shelter medicine, exotics Bio: Hi! I'm from Waukesha, WI and have a sassy shiba inu at home. I used to have sugar gliders as pets which sparked my interest to pursue exotic animal medicine. I previously worked at an animal shelter and now work at WisCARES. Those experiences have really helped to shape my goals for a future in veterinary medicine. I work in an aquatic toxicology lab on campus as well. I recently returned from a pre-vet study abroad trip in Australia and I am currently in the process of applying to vet school! Major: Zoology Year: Junior Vet Interests: Army veterinary officer, exotics Bio: I am thrilled to be a volunteer co-chair for such an amazing organization this year! I am from Brookfield, Wisconsin and I hope to return to my hometown some day as a veterinarian. First, I would like to serve in the army as a veterinary officer and will be applying for the HPSP program and vet school next summer. I also have 6 cats and a horse. I currently work at the Wisconsin veterinary diagnostic laboratory and UW vet clinic and absolutely love it! I cannot wait to get started with this years activities! I currently work at UW Vet Care in the ER/CCU and in an animal welfare research lab. I am interested in mixed animal practice and emergency medicine. When I'm not doing homework or working, I like to kayak, hike, bake, and hang out with my roommates! I have a Bernese Mountain dog and a Bernese/Golden mix at home, as well as a cat. I currently work in a mouse laboratory on campus as an Animal Research Technician and shadowed in the radiation oncology unit at the vet school! I love plants (my apartment is covered in them), cooking, and trying new coffee shops/restaurants. I am looking forward to meeting all the club members this year! I have won multiple state and national titles while shooting, and I also played volleyball throughout high school . I’m from Kenosha, WI. I absolutely love traveling with the farthest place I’ve visited being Australia and I’m going to Africa next summer! I worked at the Racine County Zoo this past summer and loved every minute of it! I have three dogs, two are outside hunting dogs (Dash and Caesar) and an inside dog Mila. My hobbies include hanging out with friends, watching movies, working out, and playing pick up volleyball at the Nick, so if you ever see me playing don’t hesitate to join! I grew up about an hour away from Madison and had many pets growing up. Right now, I have 1 dog, 4 cats, and 1 hamster. I have been working at a small vet clinic for 3 years now and have gained so much knowledge and experience working with animals, it makes me so excited for what the future holds. Besides veterinary interests, I also love cooking, playing piano, and everything about the outdoors! I am currently working as a Veterinary Assistant in Surgery Recovery at Precision Veterinary, which is a high-volume low-cost spay/neuter and affordable care veterinary clinic. I have interned at Wisconsin Humane Society's Wildlife Rehab Center, and at Animal Welfare Science's Adcock Lab where I assisted with a study on how tail-docking affects ewe-lamb relationships. I am currently applying to vet school for Fall 2023. I also have two rabbits, Oreo (mini-rex) and Chai (English spot)! I am excited to be a Volunteer Co-Chair!
